Otterbein College has been ranked 14th in the Universities-Master's category for the Midwest in U.S. News Media Group's 2010 ranking of America's Best Colleges.

Otterbein was compared with 146 universities in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa and Missouri.

The rankings are based on six categories of 15 factors, such as assessments by peer universities, graduation rates, retention rates, student selectivity and financial resources.

The Universities-Master's category includes colleges that offer a range of undergraduate and master's programs but few, if any, doctoral programs.

Otterbein has competed in the category for the past three years and ranked 15th last year.

According to a press release from the college, it previously competed in the Comprehensive Colleges Category in the Midwest and consistently ranked in the top 10.

The 2010 college rankings of more than 1,400 schools are available online at www.usnews.com/colleges and in the current issue of U.S. News & World Report.
