As both a physician and a resident of Westerville, I ask that everyone support the levy on the upcoming ballot.
If you own a home and this levy fails, you stand to lose tens of thousands of dollars or more in lower home value. Would you rather pay a couple hundred extra dollars in taxes, even though that might hurt a little, in order to preserve the value of your home and the standard of living and the community nature of Westerville?
Clearly, the school board must do everything in its power to remain fiscally responsible. At the same time, this levy is a necessary measure. The district made $10.9-million in adjustments to reduce costs. In addition, since the 2006 operating levy, an independent oversight committee has repeatedly reported that the district has managed tax dollars in a fiscally conservative manner.

To the editor:
We would like to express our deepest appreciation to our Westerville community for their incredible generosity.
In April of this year, we joined together with t he goal of raising enough money in the Westerville community to sponsor an Honor Flight. Honor Flight's mission is to honor and celebrate World War II veterans' service by flying them to Washington, D.C., to visit and reflect at their memorials. The veterans are provided the experience at no charge as a token our gratitude and respect.
On Oct. 10, this goal will become a reality as a flight of WWII veterans will travel to see their memorial in Washington, D.C.
We would like to thank Home Depot, Kroger, the Westerville Electric Division, American Legion Young-Budd Post 171, Westerville Lion's Club, Rotary Clubs of Westerville, Westerville City Schools, Cardone's Restaurant, Perk's Construction, Central Ohio Primary Care Physicians Inc., Reno's Floral & Gifts, Karlsberger Planning Architecture Design, Ometek Inc., Fastsigns, Flowerama, Sandman Catering, Tim Bullock-Edward Jones, Flaherty & Associates, Bryant Heating & Cooling, Starbucks, Metz Bailey & McLoughlin, Filter Fresh Coffee and Cook's Balloonery for their donation of time and resources that contributed to the success of our fundraising events and the Oct. 10 Honor Flight.
And to all the individuals, families and groups that fasted on pancakes, lined the parade route, held their own fundraisers and generously donated to Westerville Honor Flight, we were overwhelmed by your stories, your generosity and the depth of support for our World War II veterans. Thank you to all who contributed to this very successful community effort.
We have had such strong support for this worth cause, efforts are already under way to sponsor a flight in 2010.
Thank you for helping to fulfill veterans' dreams to see their long-overdue memorial.
