Students ages 12 to 18 who would like to volunteer for the first summer reading program session (June 10-July 8) must attend one of three orientations: 10 to 11 a.m. or 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 5; or 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 7. Bring a calendar to sign up for shifts.

"Herb Lady" Arlene Adkins will provide pointers for creating a culinary herb garden from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 7, in the meeting room. Gardeners will discover the aroma, texture and uses of popular herbs. Registration required.

Sandi Latimer, volunteer coordinator at Green Lawn Cemetery, will present a history of Green Lawn from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 8. She will share stories of well-known individuals laid to rest at the cemetery, including Eddie Rickenbacker and members of the Lazarus family. Registration required.

Summer reading programs for all ages start at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 10, in the library and online. Reading logs and program guides will be available. Juggling, face-painting and crafts will be featured in the meeting room.

Singer songwriter T-Rex and his seven-foot dinosaur friend, Rock, will perform "Roar and Read Like a Rock Star" from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 12, in the meeting room. Registration required.

Children ages 6 and older can learn all about chess from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 12. Coaches from the Delaware Youth Chess Club will serve as instructors. Instruction will be available at all experience levels. Registration required.
