Memorial Day services for the Westerville community will begin at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, May 31, at Otterbein Cemetery.

Memorial Day services for the Westerville community will begin at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, May 31, at Otterbein Cemetery.

Conducting the services will be the Young-Budd Post 171 of the American Legion.

The day's activities will begin at 8 a.m. with a continental breakfast for Legion members, guests and Memorial Day participants at the Post headquarters, 393 E. College Ave.

A Memorial Day parade will form in the parking lots behind Westerville City Hall at 9 a.m. The parade will step off at 9:45 a.m. at South State Street and College Avenue, pass Heritage Green Park's veterans memorial plaque in front of city hall and proceed to the veterans memorial in front of the former National Guard armory on South State Street to place a memorial wreath.

The parade then will continue to the cemetery by way of Bishop Drive and Knox Street.

Speaking at the Memorial Day service will be U.S. Navy veteran Udo Maroscher.

The Color Guard and Firing Squad will participate in an 11 a.m. ceremony at the Blendon Township Central Cemetery on Hempstead Road, follow that with a brief ceremony at Pioneer Cemetery and conclude with a ceremony at Northlawn Cemetery, north of Westerville.
