Andrew Speicher and Marisa Bernhardt of Westerville were among several central Ohio students whose original work was selected to be a part of the 27th annual Columbus Children's Theatre Child Writing Project.

The theme for this year's project is "Magic, Mystery and MAYHEM!"

Speicher is a second-grader at Hanby Magnet School. His piece is "The Water Dragon." Bernhardt is a second-gradee at Mark Twain Elementary School. Her piece is "Think of Magic Dragons."

The pieces are among 17 selected from more than 900 submissions from students in kindergarten through sixth grade from around the state.

Stories are judged on originality, theatricality and distinct flair. Winning entries are adapted into a script and presented as a full stage production by CCT's Professional Touring Company. It was debuted last month in Dublin and will be presented at schools throughout Ohio.
