Westerville police have reopened all traffic and are letting residents return to their homes in the area near South State Street and Huber Village Boulevard.

Authorities had closed roads in the area this morning after construction crews ruptured a gas line there.

Huber Village Boulevard was closed between South State Street and Birmingham Road. Hillsdowne Road was closed at Schrock Road.

The line was ruptured between Hillsdowne Road and Palermo Place, city spokesperson Christa Dickey said. The Westerville Division of Fire was on the scene, trying to assess the severity of the leak, Dickey said, and Columbia Gas crews also responded.

Homes in the area were evacuated, and businesses in the area, including Bob Evans, Chase Bank and OfficeMax, were closed.
Electricity had to be cut to three homes while the city investigated the damage, Dickey said.
