Oakstone Academy will return to the Westerville Planning Commission on March 28 to present scaled-down plans for a gymnasium.

In September, the planning commission approved the addition of a 15,000-square-foot gymnasium at the school, 939 S. State St.

But the school now will present plans for a smaller expansion that will be attached to the main school building, said Westerville senior planner Bassem Bitar.

"It was going to be a separate building," Bitar said. "They've decided to scale it back a little, by about 500 square feet."

The expansion was planned to be a metal-framed building with a concrete base, constructed to match the existing building. The original expansion plans received unanimous approval from the planning commission.

The planning commission meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. March 28 in city council chambers, 21 S. State St.

The Oakstone expansion is the only item on the March agenda, Bitar said.
