Westerville North High School's top 10 graduating seniors were recognized by the Westerville Kiwanis Club April 11 during the 50th anniversary Academic Varsity banquet.

Westerville North High School's top 10 graduating seniors were recognized by the Westerville Kiwanis Club April 11 during the 50th anniversary Academic Varsity banquet.

Honorees from Westerville North High School were Phillip Craigmile, Samuel Finley, Iris Jang, Adam Lim, Allison Slenker, Emma Feder, Glen Gainer, Denise Jones, Sarah McCarty and Weston Straw.

Phillip Craigmile is the son of Todd and Connie Craigmile. He has a 4.59 grade-point average.

Craigmile is a member of the volleyball team, band, orchestra, theater program and Science Olympiad, and he is the treasurer of the National Honor Society, the lieutenant governor of Key Club Division 10E and a tutor at Heritage Middle School.

Craigmile plans to major in biology at Ohio State University or at Ohio University's Honor Tutorial College. He has been awarded the Maximus Scholarship from Ohio State and the Gateway Excellence Scholarship from Ohio University.

Emma Feder is the daughter of Jan and Brenda Feder. She has a 4.65 grade-point average.

Feder is a member of Key Club and student council, and treasurer of the National Honor Society. She is a tutor at Heritage Middle School, plays the piano and volunteers at CHA Animal Shelter.

Feder plans to attend Ohio State University or Northwestern University to major in chemistry or biochemistry and minor in Spanish. She is a National Merit Scholarship program commended scholar.

Samuel Finley is the son of Edward and Kim Finley. He has a 4.6 grade-point average.

Finley is a member of the Science Olympiad, orchestra, ski club and his church's bowling league. He volunteers as a tutor and with his church's summer food program.

Finley plans to major in mechanical engineering at Ohio State University, where he has been admitted to the honors engineering program.

Glen Gainer is the son of Kevin and Yan Yan Gainer. He has a 4.5 grade-point average. He is a member of Science Olympiad and The Odyssey.

He plans to attend Ohio State University.

Iris Jang is the daughter of Jyan-Chyun and Ming-Mei Jang.

She has a 4.56 grade-point average.

She plays the piano and earned third place in the senior duet in the Music Teachers National Association national competition. She also is a member of the Science Olympiad.

Jang plans to study cognitive science at the University of California at Berkeley.

Denise Jones is the daughter of Vilma Espinoza and Darin Jones. She has a 4.45 grade-point average.

Jones is a member of the swim team.

She plans to attend the University of Michigan to major in mechanical engineering.

Adam Lim is the son of Edwin and Ellen Lim. He has a 4.69 grade-point average.

Lim is a member of the National Honor Society, the soccer team, baseball team, cross-country team and Leadership Westerville. He was a Buckeye Boys State delegate and a junior-senior mentor.

Lim plans to attend Northwestern University to major in materials science engineering.

Sarah McCarty is the daughter of Drema and Michael McCarty. She has a 4.52 grade-point average.

McCarty is a member of the yearbook staff, book club, mock trial club, the National Honor Society, Young Republicans and Interact Community Service Club. She is a junior-senior mentor.

McCarty plans to attend Ohio State University to major in political science and English before moving on to law school.

She has received Ohio State's Provost Scholarsship, the Ohio Award of Merit, the President's Award of Educational Excellence, a Medallion award and AP Distinction.

Allison Slenker is the daughter of Ralph and Molly Slenker. She has a 4.8 grade-point average.

Slenker is a member of the Philosophy Club, Recycling Club, Be the Change, Warrior Way leadership team, golf team, Feats of Clay and the National Honor Society. She is a junior-senior mentor and a Buckeye Girls State alternate.

Slenker plans to attend Case Western Reserve University to major in chemistry and art history.

She is an OCC Scholar-Athlete, Ohio Award of Merit winner, Medallion Award winner and an Evening of Elegance recognized scholar, and the recipient of the President's Award for Educational Excellence, a University Scholar Scholarship and a Creative Achievement Award.

Weston Straw is the son of Michael and Susan Straw. He has a 4.66 grade-point average. Straw is a member of the swim team.

He plans to major in engineering at Ohio State University, where he has earned a Maximus Scholarship.
