Westerville group files petition to roll back school taxes
Taxpayers for Westerville Schools, the group that has actively campaigned against the Westerville City School District’s last two levy attempts, announced it would file petitions at 11 a.m. today with the Franklin County Board of Elections to repeal 6.71 mills of Westerville school taxes.
The 6.71 mills would be taken from an 11.4-mill operating levy passed in 2009. However, the millage amount is equal to the levy passed by Westerville voters in March.
To have the levy rollback placed on the November ballot, Taxpayers for Westerville Schools must have 3,911 valid signatures on its petitions.
The board of elections will must certify 3,911 valid signatures of registered voters living in the district by Aug. 20 in order for the initiative to make the Nov. 6 ballot.
