Turning bats into gold

Lorrie Cecil/ThisWeekNEWS

Westerville North sophomore Grace Zaher talks to the Peer family -- dad Stephen, mom Sheri and daughters Morgan, 12, and Megan 8 -- during a bat house workshop Aug. 4 at Sharon Woods Metro Park. The workshop was part of Zaher's project to win her Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest honor awarded in Girl Scouts. Earlier in the year Zaher talked to fourth-graders at Mark Twain Elementary about bats and at this workshop, families could build a bat house to be placed in one of the Metro Parks. Each house was numbered so the families can locate them after placement. Buy This Photo
