Dog Days of Summer
4th Friday to celebrate man's best friend
Man's best friend will be the focus of this month of OhioHealth 4th Friday celebration in Uptown Westerville.
"Dog Days of Summer" will be the theme of the Westerville Visitors and Convention Bureau monthly summer block party from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 24 in historic Uptown Westerville.
Dogs are encouraged to attend the event, along with their people, and vendors, activities and displays will focus on information and items for dogs.
The 4th Friday will feature the 13th annual "Best on the Street Dog Show," sponsored by Captivating Canines.
For the show, owners can take their pets to five judging stations for ranking in three categories: appearance, friendliness and most appealing.
Completed judging forms can be left at the last judging station visited, and the top three dogs will be announced at 8:30 p.m. on West College Avenue. Winners will receive gift certificates to Captivating Canines.

Proceeds from the dinners will pay for World War II and Korean War veterans to visit war memorials in Washington, D.C.
Other food options will include fresh sandwiches, gyros, chili dogs, hamburgers, doughnuts, kosher hot dogs, shaved ice and brats, available from street vendors throughout Uptown.
