A Westerville man was arrested early Aug. 4 after barricading himself inside his residence, leading to a standoff with Westerville police and Columbus SWAT officers.
Westerville police responded to the residence on Bellfrey Court just before 9 p.m. Aug. 3 on reports that the man had threatened others in the residence. The front door was locked and a chair was propped in front of it, police said, and the man refused to open the door or answer calls.
Reports that the man had knives inside caused concern for police.
Columbus SWAT entered the home at about 3 a.m. Aug. 4 and found the man with self-inflicted cuts to his wrist and a stab wound in his stomach, according to reports. He was transported to Grant Medical Center for emergency surgery, police said.
Others in the home were not injured, reports stated.
