Tom Bernardo, owner of Giammarco's Pizza & Pasta, has been chosen as the Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce's 2012 Business Person of the Year, the chamber announced Tuesday.
"(Bernardo) is being recognized for his outstanding community involvement, his commitment to the thriving Westerville area economy as well as his personal business accomplishments. The Westerville area is proud to have a fine family-run establishment like Giammarco's Pizza & Pasta," the chamber said in the announcement
The other finalists for 2012 Business Person of the Year Award Finalists were:
* Connie Emerson, Concord Counseling Services;
* Polly Clavijo, Revolution Group; and
* Jason Carpenter, Environmental Pest Management.
Bernardo will be honored at the chamber's annual dinner and awards program from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Hilton Polaris, 8700 Lyra Drive.
The cost is $40 per person or $400 for a corporate table of 10 (corporate table includes table signage and program listing). Registration deadline is Thursday, Jan. 17.
Grote Abell at WIB luncheon
Donatos owner and Chairman of the Board Jane Grote Abell will speak before the Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce Women in Business Network at the group's January luncheon.
The luncheon will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16 at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 2700 Corporate Exchange Drive. The luncheon cost is $25 for chamber members and $35 for nonmembers.
Grote Abell is a founding family member who joined Donatos Pizza Inc. more than 30 years ago. Grote Abell has a background in organizational communications and has held a variety of positions in Donatos.
The January 2013 featured charity is CHA Animal Shelter, and those who attend the luncheon are asked to bring toys, bones or bags of food for cats and dogs, or a monetary donation
