Westerville police get assist from Columbus in burglary arrest

An office in the 200 block of South State Street was burglarized between 6 p.m. Jan. 15 and a 8:30 a.m. Jan. 16.

Westerville police reported a Cincinnati man suspected in the break-in was arrested the same day the crime was discovered.

According to Westerville police reports, employees arrived at the office to find the rear door open.

Two laptop computers, a printer, a bicycle and items from file cabinets were discovered stolen.

While Westerville police were investigating the break-in, they were notified by Columbus police that a man was in custody in connection with a break in on Olentangy River Road. The laptops from the Westerville law office were found in the man's vehicle, police said.

Matthew A. Taylor, 30 of West Eighth Street in Cincinnati, was arrested and transported by Columbus police to Franklin County jail.

In other recent Westerville Division of Police incident reports:

* A vehicle parked in the 200 block of Foxtrail Place was broken into between 3:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Jan. 13. A compact disc player, digital camera, $500 cash and other items were reported stolen.

* Gasoline was siphoned from a car parked in the 1100 block of East College Avenue between 9:30 a.m. Jan. 12 and 7 a.m. Jan. 14.

* A woman's purse was stolen at 5:45 p.m. Jan. 14 from her unlocked, running car while it was left unattended in the parking lot of a business in the 1200 block of South Sunbury Road.
