Chamber marks 2012 achievements, pivots to 2013

The Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce honored outstanding members during its annual dinner Jan. 22 and "passed the gavel" from its 2012 to its 2013 Board of Trustees chairman.

In the dinner held at the Hilton Columbus-Polaris, Giammarco's owner Tom Bernardo was honored as the 2012 Business Person of the Year, with Jason Carpenter of Environmental Pest Management, Polly Clavijo of the Revolution Group and Connie Emerson of Concord Counseling Services recognized as finalists for the award.

Though he was unable to attend, 2013 board Chairman Mike MacKay of OhioHealth Design and Construction officially took over leadership of the chamber trustees, as outgoing Chairman Scott Grotelueschen touted the chamber's 2012 achievements.

Chairman's Awards were given to 24 members who volunteered their time leading chamber committees and initiatives in 2012.

Chairman's Award recipients included:

* Donna Andriot, of Capstone CPAs, who served on the board of trustees as secretary and treasurer, as chairwoman of the CPA Network and on the Ambassadors Committee.

* David Bauer, of Bauer and Company CPA, who served as the treasurer of the Chamber Foundation Board and as the chairman of the SOHO Network.

* Bill Bishop, of Associated Insurance Agencies, who served on the board of trustees and as the chairman of the Business Person of the Year Selection Committee.

* Leslie Biskner, of Cooperative Business Services LLC, who served as co-chairwoman of the Golf Outing Committee.

* Sara Canterbury, of Skylight Financial Group, who served as the chairwoman of the Young Professionals Committee and on the Taste of Westerville and Evening of Elegance committees.

* Coutanya Coombs, of Keller Williams Greater Columbus Realty, who served as the chairwoman of the Women in Business Committee and on the Taste of Westerville Committee.

* Bob Gibson, of TRIAD Architects, who served on the board of trustees, as chairman of the Music and Arts Entertainment Committee and as chairman of the Government Relations Committee.

* Scott Grotelueschen, of Associated Financial Services, who served as chairman of the board of trustees for 2012.

* Jean Halpin, of OhioHealth, who served as vice-chairwoman of the board of trustees and of the Evening of Elegance Committee.

* Mike MacKay, of OhioHealth Design and Construction, who was the chairman-elect of the board of trustees.

* Derrick Manley, of KEMBA Financial Credit Union, who served as co-chairman of the Taste of Westerville Committee.

* Victoria McCoy, of Crown Benefits, who served on the board of trustees and as the chairwoman of the Women in Business and Program committees.

* Janet Meeks, of Mount Carmel St. Ann's, who served on the board of trustees and as chairwoman of the Strategic Planning Steering Committee.

* Kris Michel, of Chocolaterie Stam, who served as chairwoman of the Evening of Elegance Auction Committee.

* Gwen Nichols, of Pusateri, Nichols and Co. CPAs, who served on the board of trustees and chairwoman of the SOHO Network and assisted with chamber finances.

* Paula Parlett, of Huntington National Bank, who served as Chamber Foundation president.

* Travis Sanders, of Fahey Bank, who served on the executive committee.

* Jason Seeley, of DASCO Home Medical Equipment, who served on the Chamber Foundation board.

* Jim Sterling, of Sterling Consulting Services LLC, who served on the board of trustees.

* Laura Stimmel, of the Delaware County Bank, who served as chairwoman of the Music and Arts Committee.

* Christina Stocker, of Nationwide Children's Hospital, who served as chairwoman of the Golf Outing Committee and on the board of trustees.

* Rob Twitchell, of Information Control Corporation, who served as chairman of the Government Relations Committee.

* Susan West, of Fifth Third Bank, who served as chairwoman of the Ambassadors Committee.

* Chuck Woodson, formerly of Emerald Bank, who served as chairman of the Taste of Westerville Committee.
