Participants, judges and chocolate buffs slugged through a little snow Friday, Jan. 25 to partake of the goodies at the third annual chocolate creations contest staged by the Uptown Belgian chocolate shop Chocolaterie Stam, 79 S. State St.

Celebrity judges including Janet Tressler Davis, president and CEO of the Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce; Mindy Drayer, newscaster for WCMH-TV (Channel 4); local radio and online personality Shawn Ireland; and state Rep. Anne Gonzales (R-Westerville) chose the winning entries in five categories. Residents in attendance voted a sixth: the People's Choice Award.

The winners:

* Delightfully Distinctive (presentation/looks) and People's Choice: Dominic Rees and his grandmother Faith Lourgos for their "Honeymoon in Boston" Boston cream pie.

* Exquisitely Extraordinary (most creative name): 12-year-old Robin Heft for her "Gimme S'more Cupcakes."

* Ingeniously Innovative (most interesting use of chocolate): Joe Francis for his chocolate beer "Chocolate Honeycomb Stout."

* Delectably Delicious (taste): Sharon Buxton for her "White Chocolate Raspberry Wonder."

Chocolaterie Stam, owned by sisters Kris Michel and Anna Nelson, opened Uptown in 2010.
