Man lists laptop on Craigslist, robbed outside home

A Westerville man reported that he was robbed at gunpoint at 7:55 p.m. Feb. 22 on Peachtree Court, just east of Huber Village Boulevard and Eastwind Drive.

According to Westerville police reports, the man posted an advertisement listing his Apple laptop computer for sale on Craiglist. The man had two people call requesting to see the laptop, and he set a time for them to do so at his home.

The resident told police that as he arrived home that evening and got out of his car, a man approached him and asked if he had a lighter.

When the resident replied, "No," the man demanded the laptop and threatened to shoot him, police reports said. The man's hand was in his shirt as if concealing a weapon, the victim told police.

The suspect is described as black, about 6-foot-1 and wore jeans and a blue hooded sweatshirt. The incident remains under investigation.

In other recent Westerville Division of Police incident reports:

* A man reported that a printer, valued at $150, was stolen from the garage at his house in the 700 block of Autumn Branch Road bet-ween 8 a.m. Feb. 6 and 8 a.m. Feb. 19.

* Two vehicles parked in the shopping center parking lot at the northwest corner of South State Street and Schrock Road were broken into and items were stolen between 8 and 8:25 p.m. Feb. 21.

Driver-side windows of both vehicles were broken out to gain entry.

A bag containing credit cards and a laptop computer were stolen from the first vehicle; A bag containing nothing of monetary value was stolen from the second vehicle.

* Two vehicles parked in a lot in the 700 block lot of North State Street were broken into between 6 and 9 p.m. Feb. 21.

One vehicle had a rear passenger window smashed out, and two backpacks were taken. Two wallets, unsigned checks and personal items were stolen.

An iPad was stolen from the second vehicle, which was unlocked.
