Westerville: Woman's off-road trip ends in creek, OVI arrest

A 40-year-old Westerville woman was arrested March 26 for operating a vehicle while intoxicated after she crashed her vehicle into a creek just south of Spring Brook Court East.

According to Westerville police reports, the woman was traveling southbound on Spring Brook Court East when she approached the end of the roadway, but failed to stop her vehicle.

She traveled between two barriers, down a walkway leading to a gazebo, and then veered slightly to the left, traveling through a lawn and down a hill before crashing into the creek.

The woman's vehicle traveled more than 245 feet after leaving the roadway, police reported.

She was not injured in the accident, but was subsequently arrested.

In other recent incident reports from the Westerville Division of Police:

* A GPS unit, checkbook and personal items were reported stolen from a vehicle while it was parked in a driveway in the first block of Gibson Place between 9 p.m. March 24 and 6:45 a.m. March 25.

* A residence in the 3600 block of Bolamo Drive was reportedly broken into March 27. Televisions, tools and a shotgun were reported stolen.

* A 47-year-old woman was arrested at 2:56 p.m. March 29 for attempting to steal $178 worth of pet food and supplies from a business in the 100 block of Huber Village Boulevard.

The woman filled a cart with merchandise and bought two packs of cigarettes before attempting to leave the store with the cart of unpaid merchandise.
