'Wizard of Oz' production to land in Westerville

In celebration of Westerville's 2013 Year of the Arts, the Westerville Parks and Recreation Department and Otterbein University are excited to announce plans to produce a community theater production of the Wizard of Oz. This fully staged musical production will be led by Otterbein alumni, faculty and staff.

Auditions are scheduled for Saturday, April 27 with audition packets currently available at the Westerville Community Center Front Desk. Participants aged 5-95 are encouraged to audition. This production provides the perfect opportunity to possibly launch a career or just have fun exploring that creative side. To schedule an audition interested participants should contact Matt Wolfe, co-director at 614-823-1657. If cast, there is a registration fee of $125 to cover rehearsal materials, qualified instruction, cast T-shirt plus two performance tickets. Scholarship opportunities are also available.

Rehearsals will begin the week of June 3.

Volunteers also are needed to assist with costuming, set construction, and stage crew.

Four performances are scheduled at Westerville Central High School on Friday, through Sunday, Aug. 2- 4. Performance tickets will be available in advance at the Westerville Community Center for $10 per ticket.
