Chance to recycle electronics offered April 20

Annehurst Elementary School will host a Community Electronics Recycling fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 20.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to drop off old, unwanted and/or broken electronics for recycling or refurbishing.

Organizer Karen Ferris, founder of Big Green Head (BigGreenHead.com) created the program to engage communities, make electronics recycling convenient and to prevent valuable resources from going to the landfill.

Smooth Transitions of Central Ohio is sponsoring the event (smoothtransitionscoh.com). Donations will benefit the Annehurst Elementary School PTA. A minimum donation of $5 is suggested. A $20 fee will be charged for tube televisions, which require costly reprocessing.

Items will be handled by Accurate IT (accurateit.com), a company with a guaranteed data destruction policy and whose goal is zero electronics to the landfill. To see a list of acceptable items, visit BigGreenHead.com.

Annehurst Elementary School is at 925 W. Main St. in Westerville.
