Wilder student's photographs win contest

Wilder Elementary School fourth-grade student Landon Bailey was recently notified by Don Heiny, photo editor of TIME for Kids, that he won the magazine's 2013 photo contest.

His picture, depicting a frog in a pond, was selected to appear in the TIME for Kids April 19 issue, which focused on Earth Day. For his efforts, Bailey won a new digital camera.

Contestants had to answer the question "Why is Earth Day important to our planet?" using photographs. The national contest was open to students ages 8-13.

Submissions were judged on originality, creativity, photo composition and relevance to the Earth Day theme.
