Music & Arts Festival seeks works by young artists
Organizers with the Westerville Area Chamber Music & Arts Festival have put out a call for works by young artists, ages 3 to 18, for the festival's youth art exhibit.
The youth exhibition will take place during the 2013 festival, set for July 13-14 at Heritage Park and Everal Barn, 60 N. Cleveland Ave.
Youth entries will be broken into three categories: Budding Artists for children ages 3-5; Group One for children ages 6-8; Group Two for children ages 9-11; Group Three for children ages 12-14; and Group Four for ages 15-18.
Ribbons will be awarded in each age group for Best of Show; People's Choice; first, second and third places; and honorable mention.
Ribbons for participation will be given to each artist.
Youth exhibition categories include oil, acrylic, watercolor and tempera painting; charcoal, pastel, black-and-white pencil, color pencil, pen-and-ink drawing; ceramics; sculpture; mixed media; fiber art and wood art; calligraphy; color photography; black-and-white photography; and digital art.
There is an entry fee of $5 for each piece of artwork entered. There is a maximum of five pieces of artwork per child, with no more than two pieces of art entered in each category.
Application forms are available at several locations, including community and school art teachers, the Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce website, the Westerville Public Library and the Westerville Community Center.
The application deadline is June 28.
The chamber also is seeking volunteers to help staff the Youth Exhibit area.
