Ensemble places 4th in WGI competition

The Westerville Indoor Percussion Ensemble (WIPE), a group of middle and high school students who attend Westerville City Schools, placed fourth at the 2013 Winter Guard International Percussion Scholastic World Championship Finals held in April at the University of Dayton arena.

The group advanced through two earlier rounds of competition to be among 12 of 62 groups that were declared finalists.

WIPE is the first Westerville group in more than 10 years to advance beyond preliminary competition.

The group is directed by Nick Pelfrey and Jordi Vilanova. Graduating seniors include Jeremy Bouza, Joe Cleary, Jeremy Held, Nate Michaels, Beth Post, Derek Sandera, Lovell Tufts, Sarah Gesteniah and Torrie Hammond.
