Promoting neighborhood beautification

WesterFlora tour seeks entrants

WesterFlora Garden Tour organizers are seeking notable Westerville gardens to highlight on this year's tour, which will take place from 1 to 7 p.m. July 21.

Organizers look for different gardens that will provide inspiration for tour-goers. Gardens can be shade, sun, self-sustainable, vegetable, therapy, memorial or those with a theme. Garden rooms, gardens on the water or gardens with water features also are of interest.

This year's WesterFlora theme is "A Festival of Gardens." The tour will include artists and musicians in some of the gardens, as well as the Flower Fortune Teller.

Last year's tour, "Bursting with Blooms," recently was awarded first place by the Garden Club of Ohio as the state's best Residential Landscape Contest promoting neighborhood beautification.

The 2013 tour is the 22nd annual garden tour. It is sponsored by the Westerville Garden Club, the Westerville Parks and Recreation Department and Hoover Gardens.

To be considered for the tour, residents must live in the 43081 or 43082 ZIP codes, or within the Westerville City School District.

Entries will be accepted through 5 p.m. June 15.

Applications and entry boxes can be found at Hoover Gardens, 182 N. Sunbury Road; the Westerville Public Library, 126 S. State St.; or the Westerville Community Center, 350 N. Cleveland Ave.

Applications and information also can be found online at WesterFlora.com.
