The first in a series of three summer concerts in Blendon Township will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 14 at Ridgewood Park, 5402 Buenos Aires Blvd.
The first concert will feature Kelly Goodrich and the Rhythm Kings, along with free hot dogs, potato chips, drinks, cotton candy, snow cones and a bounce house.
There will be a 50-50 raffle to help raise funds to support the concert series.
The Westerville Area Resource Ministry and its volunteers will have a presence at the concert to talk to concertgoers about the ministry's Westerville Area Kids Summer Lunch Club, which offers free weekday meals and entertainment for children in need at sites around the Westerville school district, including Ridgewood Park.
The concerts have been organized by the Huber Ridge Area Association in conjunction with the township to celebrate community and highlight improvements made to the park in the last year, such as the addition of a gazebo.
The other concerts in the series will be Hang Time on July 13 and These Guys Live! Sept. 14, both from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ridgewood Park.
Food trucks will be present at the other two concerts, to allow concertgoers to purchase snacks and refreshments.
Interested food-truck operators can contact Carolyn Cordray at President@huberridge.org.
Organizers also are seeking volunteers to help man the June concert, and those interested can contact Claudia Carney at Secretary@Huberridge.org.
