Celebrated author and illustrator of 30 books for kids, Will Hillenbrand will share how he creates his illustrations and give a behind-the-scenes look at his stories and artwork on July 12 at 4 p.m. at the Westerville Public Library. At this event, children will learn to create their very own masterpiece with a little help from Will. Art created by the children will then be displayed on Saturday, July 13 at the Westerville Music and Arts Festival.

On July 13 at the Music and Arts Festival children will have an opportunity to meet Will at the Children's Workshop Tent, hear some of his favorite stories, and ask him about Big Bear and other beloved characters. Will's art work will be on display and selected pieces will be available for purchase with proceeds benefiting Westerville Arts in Public Spaces.

Symphony scholarships

The Westerville Symphony at Otterbein University is proud to announce its first group of scholarship recipients.

Dominic Baer, a pianist, and Jehdeiah Maitland, a cellist, are both 2013 graduates of Westerville North High School. Both Baer and Maitland received a $500.00 scholarship to help with their continued musical studies at Otterbein University this fall.

To provide the funds for Baer and Maitland's scholarships, the Symphony donated a portion of the proceeds from their first annual OhioHealth Beethoven 5K that took place last August. This year's race will take place July 13, 2013 at 8:00AM at Otterbein's Memorial Stadium and is open to all.
