Westerville mosquito traps test positive for West Nile virus
Franklin County Public Health will spray southeastern Westerville for mosquitoes after mosquito traps tested positive for the West Nile virus.
Spraying will begin about 8:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, between Spring Road and Hoover Reservoir; south of Maxtown Road and north of Schrock Road, as well as north of Interstate 270, east of South State Street; south of Walnut Street to Spring Road and south of Central College Road.
The spraying is meant to reduce the number of adult mosquitoes in the area.
Residents also are encouraged to wear insect repellant containing DEET while outside, to limit outdoor activity between dusk and dawn and to eliminate any standing water around their homes.
Information on the spraying, including maps, is on the Franklin County Public Health website at myfcph.org.
