Westerville: Man robbed by three teens on township bikepath
A resident reported he was robbed at gunpoint on a Genoa Township bikepath along state Route 3 near Freeman Road.
Genoa Township police were called to the scene at 10:37 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17.
The man told police he was robbed by three young men, who then fled toward Genoa Middle School. One of them had a handgun.
Police searched the area but did not find the men. They possibly were seen at a gas station on state Route 3 about the time of the robbery, and police are attempting to obtain surveillance video of them from the business.
The victim described the men as being around 18 years old. One was white and two were black, the victim told police. Witnesses who saw three men matching that description at the nearby gas station told police they were driving a white sedan.
In recent incident reports from the Westerville Division of Police:
* Eight vehicles in the Annehurst Village neighborhood were reported broken into with items stolen overnight Aug. 15-16.
Thefts took place in the 800 block of Old Coach Road, 700 block of Timberlake Drive, 700 block of Granby Place West and the 800 block of West Main Street.
Thieves primarily took wallets, cash and credit cards, but electronic devices and CDs also were taken.
One victim reported that a stolen credit card had been used at two Columbus gas stations. Surveillance video from one gas station showed a white man with short dark hair, a mustache and stubble on his chin using the card to buy beer and cigarettes, according to Westerville police reports.
The man was seen getting into an older model white sedan driven by a white man with short brown hair and a goatee.
* Catalytic converters were stolen from two buses between 4 p.m. Aug. 8 and 8 a.m. Aug. 12 while they were parked in a lot in the 1200 block of County Line Road.
In recent incident reports from Blendon Township Police:
* Money was stolen from the safe of a business in the 4100 block of Executive Parkway Aug. 16.
* The window of a car parked in the 2900 block of Morse Road was smashed Aug. 13, and a stereo and prescription glasses were stolen.
