Westerville: Combative student faces assault charge

A Walnut Springs Middle School student was arrested and charged with assault through Franklin County Juvenile Court after she repeatedly punched and kicked another student on the school bus at 3:10 p.m. Sept. 18.

According to Westerville police reports, the arrested student kicked and hit the other student before the bus left the school, but the fight was broken up by other students.

As the bus traveled along Sunbury Road, the arrested student got out of her seat and again began striking the other student. The bus driver pulled the bus over and called a supervisor.

When the supervisor arrived, the student continued to strike the other student, prompting the supervisor to restrain her until police arrived.

In other recent reports for the Westerville Division of Police:

* An 18-year-old Westerville man was arrested at 4:25 a.m. Sept. 21 for operating a vehicle while intoxicated after he admitted to losing control of his vehicle and striking a parked car in the 1000 block of East College Avenue. The man failed field sobriety tests was found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.17, according to police reports.

In recent reports from Blendon Township police:

* Blendon Township police seized six marijuana plants at 12:50 p.m. Sept. 17 from a backyard in the 2800 block of Kilbourne Avenue after a resident called to complain about the plants.
