Annehurst neighborhood pool gets hit again by vandals
The Annehurst Pool on West Granby Place was vandalized between noon Sept. 22 and 6:30 p.m. Sept. 29, Westerville police reported.
A 1.5-foot-square hole was cut in the fence, locks were broken off sheds and one shed door was damaged, but nothing was stolen.
The incident marks the second time the private neighborhood pool has been vandalized in recent months, police said.
Sometime overnight Aug. 5-6, the facility was broken into and benches and chairs were thrown into the pool, and a large planter was overturned and its contents were thrown into the water.
In other recent incident reports from the Westerville Division of Police:
* A 17-year-old boy was arrested and charged with theft at 6:34 p.m. after he snatched a cell phone from a woman's hand as she stood in front of a restaurant in the 500 block of South State Street and ran.
A 19-year-old man who was with the boy also was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Mifflin Township.
* A man broke into vending machines at 6:55 p.m. Oct. 2 in a closed business in the 400 block of Olde Worthington Road. Based on a witness report, police said they believe a maintenance employee let another man into the building after hours to commit the crime.
In recent reports from Blendon Township police:
* A 15-year-old boy reported that an unknown person pointed a handgun in his face and told him to run at 8:05 p.m. Oct. 6 in the 4200 block of Executive Parkway.
