Columbus Medical Association Alliance, A VIP Party fundraiser, 10 a.m. Nov. 6, at Scioto Country Club, 2196 Riverside Dr. Shelley Meyer, wife of Ohio State University football coach Urban Meyer, is scheduled to speak. Activities include a silent auction, boutique of vendors, bake sale, raffle, style show and luncheon. Cost is $50 per person. All proceeds benefit the Medical & Nursing Student Scholarship Fund. Soroptimist International of Columbus & Franklin, Women Helping Women Holiday Shopping Event, 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 7, at The Shops at Worthington Place (formerly Worthington Square Mall). Approximately 35 vendors will be on hand to sell their wares. The funds raised will allow SI Columbus its support of community entities such as Amethyst, Inc., CHOICES for Domestic Violence Awareness, and St. Vincent's Family Center. It will also benefit the group's award program so that women in college or returning to college will receive monetary awards to be used for their schooling needs. Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door. Appetizers and finger foods are provided. A cash bar will be available and raffles and door prizes will be included. Therapeutic Laughter Program, 5:30 to 8 p.m. Nov. 18, at the Everal Barn, 60 N. Cleveland Ave., Westerville. Steve Wilson from the World Laughter Tour will present a session on therapeutic laughter and helping participants develop ways to use humor and laughter for heath, peace, connectivity and the joy of living. This program is being offered free of charge.

TWIG Bazaar, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 10, in the Lausche Building at the Ohio Expo Center. The bazaar features handmade items including jewelry, holiday ornaments and decorations and the Avenue of Trees and Wreaths. New this year, the bazaar will include handcrafted items from outside artisans. Other features include a silent auction, pick-a-prize, pictures with Santa and a holiday pantry. Admission is free, although attendees are encouraged to purchase an early shopping pass for $25. AARP Foundation Senior Community Service Employment Program assists unemployed Franklin, Delaware and Licking county workers age 55 and over with securing employment. Bret Ruby, archeologist/chief, resource management, Hopewell Culture National Historical Park, will present "Mapping Hopewell Landscapes: Two Centuries of Landscape Studies at Hopewell Culture National Historical Park," an overview of early efforts to map the mounds and earthworks plus the results of some recent mapping efforts using LIDAR and magnetic survey. He will also provide an update on the status of the World Heritage Nomination.

Wild Ones, 10 a.m. Nov. 9 at the Innis House at Inniswood Metro Park, 940 Hempstead Road, Westerville. Mary Lewis, eco-manager and volunteer coordinator for the Ohio Heritage Gardens at the Govenor's Residence in Bexley, will present "Landscaping with Herbs." Her discussion will focus on how to use herbs in garden beds along with annuals, perennials and native plants also used as herbs. She will have a handout that lists herbs for landscaping and where to plant them. There will be a pesto demo that shows how to use and add pesto to create several different dishes.
