* Feridean Commons, an assisted living community serving 38 residents and their families in Westerville, announced that Gale Koehler was awarded the Outstanding Activities Director Award 2013 from the Ohio Assisted Living Association at its annual fall conference.
The award is given annually to outstanding staff members of assisted living communities in Ohio to publicly recognize their contributions to residents, families, other staff and the community. It is based on their demonstration of outstanding vision, innovation, leadership, compassion, creativity, talent or effectiveness in their position.
Koehler has been with Feridean Commons for nine years.
* The Governmental Relations Section of the National Association of Bar Executives honored Ohio State Bar Association Assistant Executive Director William K. Weisenberg of Westerville with its first-ever Governmental Relations Section Award for outstanding service.
The section established the award for outstanding achievement in the field of government relations, for extraordinary services to colleagues in NABE and for distinguished leadership in the Governmental Relations Section.
In recognizing Weisenberg's achievements, the NABE award committee noted he has been a diligent advocate for the legal profession, the organized bar and the justice system, and has used his experiences to mentor and teach colleagues and volunteers.
Weisenberg has served as the assistant executive director for public affairs, governmental relations and diversity initiatives of the OSBA since 1999; and as the director of government affairs of the OSBA from 1979 to 1999. He received his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and his law degree from New York Law School.
The award was presented to Weisenberg during the NABE Governmental Relations Section Workshop held in Scottsdale, Ariz.
