The QDSN, in its 19th season, is part of the Queen of Diamonds Showcase events, the largest of their kind in the United States.

Athletes from more than 30 states and two Canadian provinces play in the showcase. Its "little sister," the Queen of Diamonds South, now is in its eighth season. More than 2,000 players apply to participate in these events, which can accept about 264.

Selection is based on ability, potential, academics, graduation year, coaches' requests and referrals.

Briggs catches and plays infield for WCHS and her summer team, the Ohio Stingrays 98.
