College notes

* Joseph Van Hassel of Westerville graduated from the University of Hartford at its fall commencement. He received a doctor of musical arts in percussion performance.

* Westerville resident Jacob Shrider received a master's degree in business administration from Coastal Carolina University in December.

* Scott Hawley of Westerville received a master of education degree from Ashland University at winter commencement in December. He majored in educational administration.

* Kent State University recently announced those who received degrees at its 2013 summer commencement.

Westerville area students among the graduates are Natalie Bagby and Kristofer Braxton. Both earned bachelor's degrees.

* Westerville resident John Macias was named to the University of Evansville's fall semester dean's list. Macias is a business major.

To be eligible for the list, a student must have earned a grade point average of 3.5 or better.

* Mitra Patel of Westerville was named to the Youngstown State University fall semester dean's list. Patel is a pre-med major.

* Westerville resident Hilary Walker, a junior at Beloit College, was named to the dean's list for the fall semester. Students named to the list earned a 3.4 or better grade point average.

* Westerville residents Joshua Llaneza and Jennafer Skoglund were named to the dean's list at Marietta College for the fall 2013 semester.

Llaneza is a petroleum engineering major. Skoglund is majoring in middle childhood education.

* The University of Dayton recently announced those who received degrees at its 2013 winter commencement.

Kelsey Ganser of Westerville received a bachelor's degree in biology.

* Ohio Dominican University recently announced the names of students included on its 2013 fall semester dean's list.

Westerville area students who were on the list include: Lynnsee Doran, Eric Fain, Christopher Monteiro, Paige Reading, Jessica Creager, Kelsey Albanese, Kenneth Brown, Hilary Conrad, Darrell Harley, Lisa Hutch, Caitlin Kusan, Emily Petercsak, Brandon Schoen, Kelsey Seeds, Sara Selegue, Dylan West and Gary Cook.
