Four Westerville residents were arrested last week in connection with a series of armed robberies in Westerville, Columbus and Blendon Township following the robbery of Subway, 495 S. State St., Feb. 5.

Police responded to Subway shortly after 9:30 p.m. An employee had been washing dishes when he heard someone enter the store and went to wait on the person.

The employee was met by a masked man holding a large kitchen knife and demanding cash.

The employee complied, opened and emptied the register, and the armed man fled.

Footprints in the snow led police to a nearby parking lot, and following a search of the area, police said they stopped a car carrying Jay R. Coplen, 20, Jack P. Coplen, 20, and Chelsie N. Kennedy, 28.

The stolen money, the weapon used in the robbery and the clothing worn by the robber all were found in the car, according to Westerville police reports.

The Coplen brothers and Kennedy were arrested and transported to the Franklin County jail on charges of aggravated robbery.

Police also arrested Dylan J. Teegarden, 22, in connection with the robbery after the Delaware County Tactical Unit served a search warrant at a home in the 100 block of Cherokee Drive Feb. 6.

In addition to the Subway robbery, Westerville police said they have tied all four suspects to robberies at Speedway, 360 S. State St.; BP gas stations at 796 S. State St. and 7525 Sancus Blvd.; UDF, 7580 Worthington-Galena Road; Yogi's Hoagies, 475 S. State St; and Clark Gas Station, 5870 Westerville Road.
