A teenage boy was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a woman as she jogged through Sharon Woods Metro Park, 6911 Cleveland Ave., just after noon Monday, Feb. 17.
According to police reports, the woman jogged past the boy on one of the park's trails, when he turned around and began to follow her. He then tackled her to the ground and climbed on top of her, reports said.
The woman bit the boy and managed to run away, calling police in the process.
Metro Park rangers and Westerville, Columbus and Sharon Township police searched the area for the boy and located him a short while later.
The boy was uncooperative and denied the assault as he was arrested, Westerville police reports said.
In other recent incident reports from the Westerville Division of Police:
* A home in the 500 block of Illinois Court was broken into between 5:45 and 8:20 p.m. Feb. 14.
According to Westerville police reports, the residents arrived home and noticed that a rear door was left ajar.
Upon searching the house, drawers and a jewelry box in the master bedroom were found to have been disrupted, but nothing was stolen.
The homeowners also had electronics, including a laptop computer, television and video-gaming system in plain view, but nothing was stolen.
* A foreclosed, vacant home in the 1000 block of Lakegrove Court was broken into between noon Jan. 18 and 4 p.m. Feb. 10, and approximately 50 feet of copper tubing was stolen from the home's heating and cooling system.
* A car parked in the 1100 block of Autumn Creek Circle was entered between 10:30 p.m. Feb. 13 and 5:30 a.m. Feb. 14, and $800 in cash was stolen. The vehicle's owner was unsure of whether the vehicle was locked, as its locking mechanism was faulty.
