The Westerville branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), with cooperation from the Westerville City Schools Gifted Education Department, has awarded four $300 scholarships to district middle school students for Be WISE Camp at Denison University this summer.

The Westerville branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), with cooperation from the Westerville City Schools Gifted Education Department, has awarded four $300 scholarships to district middle school students for Be WISE Camp at Denison University this summer.

Scholarship recipients are:

* Blendon -- Ruthie Curry, grade six.

* Genoa -- Kendel Seabury, grade six.

* Heritage -- Jenny Courts, grade seven.

* Walnut Springs -- Erica Fite, grade six.

Be WISE is a mathematics, science and technology camp for girls entering grades seven or eight in fall 2014. It features a separate curriculum for each grade level, emphasizing hands-on activities in math and science. This summer is the camp's 25th anniversary.

The residential camp for 130 young women will be held June 15-20. The registration deadline is April 1. For more information, visit bewisecamp.org.
