Schools raise $45,000 for heart research, care

During an assembly, physical education teacher Paul McNeal got his head shaved by Keegan Crowder, a second-grade pupil who raised $475, and Kristen Larkin, owner of The Salon at Polaris.

McNeal and his students at Alcott Elementary School raised $16,289.40 for the American Heart Association.

Twelve Westerville City schools participated in Jump Rope for Heart, Hoops for Heart and Red Out for Heart activities to earn money for the American Heart Association.

By the close of the 2013-2014 school year, $45,742.66 had been raised for the organization by the schools.
