The WesterFlora Garden Tour is inviting local gardeners to share their "Hidden Treasures" in the 23rd annual rendition of the free garden show.
"Do you have an eye-catching garden that you are proud of? Is your yard home to some fairy gardens? Or maybe some hidden garden sculptures?" asked show volunteer and participant Linda Laine. "Do you have a waterfall cascading down into a koi pond? Whatever your garden specialty, WesterFlora 2014 is looking for your home."
The noncompetitive gardening event will take place from 1-7 p.m. Sunday, July 20.
All gardens selected for the tour will receive a $25 gift certificate donated by sponsor Hoover Gardens nursery.
WesterFlora gives gardeners an opportunity to showcase their gardening skills and community pride, Laine said. The event is open to all residents residing in either 43081 or 43082 ZIP codes or in the Westerville school district.
All well-maintained flower, vegetable, sun, shade, and theme gardens, as well as water features and railroad gardens, are welcome.
"If you, or someone you know, has a home that may be of interest, please pick up an application," Laine said.
The applications are available at Hoover Gardens, 182 N. Sunbury Road; the Westerville Public Library, 126 S. State St.; the Westerville Community Center, 350 N. Cleveland Ave.; and online at westerflora.com.
WesterFlora entry boxes will be available at these sites as well. The deadline for returning the application is June 21.
From those that apply, approximately a dozen homes will be selected to be on the tour. Gardeners will be notified by June 26 of acceptance.
WesterFlora also is seeking artists to paint in the gardens and musicians to play softly in the yards of the selected tour homes. Contact Karen Hovey at 614-882-9955 or email@example.com or Laine at 614 891-5599 or firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
Photos from last year's tour can be browsed at westerflora.com. This year's tour gardens, artists and musicians will be posted on the site two weeks before the event.
Tour sponsors for this year are the Westerville Civic Beautification Committee, Westerville Garden Club, Westerville Parks and Recreation and Hoover Gardens.
