Community Culture Celebration great success, testament to city

To the Editor:

The Westerville Community Culture Celebration 2014 was created to bring awareness to and appreciation for the diversity of our community. There was entertainment, food trucks, a soccer tournament, a Health & Wellness fair, interactive sports and fitness activities, a global marketplace and cultural performances.

Participants were inspired and committed to continuing and improving upon this community celebration.

The event was a joint effort between the city of Westerville, the Westerville Sunrise Rotary and the Rotary Club of Westerville. Thank you to Molina Healthcare of Ohio for sponsoring the Health & Wellness Fair, to the Rotary clubs for sponsoring the soccer tournament, and to Chicago Title and Tamarack TKD for their sponsorship and involvement. Thank you to all the participants, who brought their skills and enthusiasm to the event. Special recognition goes to the personnel of the Westerville Parks and Recreation Department, in particular, retiring Superintendent Phyllis Self. Their professionalism and support was a key ingredient to the success of this event.

Westerville residents should be very proud to live in a community that promotes and celebrates its diversity. I am honored to be such a resident, and look forward to next year's Westerville Community Culture Celebration!
