Attorney General sues local business

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine is suing a laser liposuction company that operates in Westerville and Beachwood for unfair and deceptive business practices.

According to a press release issued Aug. 13, DeWine is seeking consumer restitution, an injunction to stop further violations and civil penalties from Wellness Laser and Med Spa.

The business operates at 470 Olde Worthington Road, Suite 200, in Westerville and has another office in Beachwood. According to the announcement, the company offers laser liposuction and other weight-loss services.

Five customers said they paid between $50 and several hundred dollars online for various packages from the spa, only to get appointments several months in the future or solicitations for additional items instead of a refund when they asked for their money back.

The lawsuit was filed in the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas. It accuses the business and its owner, Martina Flemings, also known as Martina Robinson, of violating the Consumer Sales Practices Act.

"Our goal is to bring this business into compliance with Ohio's consumer laws and to stop false advertisements," DeWine said in the release. "Consumers who buy products and services from a business deserve to receive those products and services in a timely manner."
