Westerville South High School senior running back Jayshon Jackson has committed to play football for Grand Rapids Community College located in Grand Rapids, Mich., according to Wildcats coach Rocky Pentello.
Jackson rushed for 2,583 yards and 23 touchdowns on 349 carries last season. He earned Division I Offensive District Player of the Year and OCC-Cardinal Division Player of the Year honors in addition to being named the ThisWeek Super 25 captain.
The 5-foot-8, 198-pounder also made first-team all-state for the Wildcats, who finished 9-3.
Grand Rapids Community College finished 10-2 last season, including losing to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College 62-53 in the Mississippi Bowl. The Raiders compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
Jackson is expected to participate in a signing ceremony Wednesday, Feb. 2, along with South teammates Ray Ball and Taven Howell. Ball is expected to sign with Wisconsin and Howell is expected to sign with Wayne State University located in Detroit.
