The final leg of the high school rugby sevens tournament will take place at 6 p.m. on June 30 at Beekman Park. Among the teams scheduled to compete include central Ohio squads from Westerville, Hilliard, Pickerington and Lancaster.
Ohio State's rugby sevens head coach Ron Bowers will be on hand to select an all-star team from the players competing. Bowers' all-star team will then travel to Iowa in July to participate in an Olympic training camp. There, the players will be coached by the sevens national team head coach Al Caravelli.
Rugby sevens is made up of teams of seven players as opposed to the traditional 15, and it is now an Olympic sport that will make its debut in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
