Chip Walston has been named the new girls lacrosse coach at Westerville North High School, ThisWeekSPORTS.com has learned.

A San Diego native and Westerville resident, Walston previously coached youth and middle school lacrosse in Westerville.

"Chip not only brings several years of coaching experience but also patience and maturity to a young team," North girls lacrosse president Rick Matsumoto said. "We can't wait for the 2012 season to start."

A native of San Diego, Walston is a retired naval helicopter pilot who served 30 years of active duty.

"I am very excited about coaching the Westerville North girls lacrosse team this season," Walston said. "Our emphasis will be on solid, fundamental lacrosse skills and teamwork and to build a foundation for girls lacrosse for years to come."
