Cody Kondas and Max Shawver, who helped the Westerville Central High School football team earn its first postseason berth last fall, signed their letters of intent Feb. 1.

Kondas will play at Lehigh University, a Football Championship Subdivision program — formerly Division I-AA — in Bethlehem, Pa. Shawver will play at NCAA Division II Ashland.

Kondas, who played quarterback and middle linebacker for the Warhawks but has said he expects to play linebacker in college, was the 2011 Player of the Year in the OCC-Cardinal Division. He was first-team all-district and special mention all-state.

Kondas completed 118 of 213 passes for 2,036 yards with 17 touchdowns and 13 interceptions, and rushed for 527 yards and 13 touchdowns on 161 carries.

Shawver, a wide receiver, was first-team all-league and second-team all-district after catching 46 passes for 922 yards and seven touchdowns.

Last season, the Warhawks finished 8-3 overall after losing to Gahanna 38-21 in a Division I, Region 3 first-round playoff game.

Central tied Westerville South and Olentangy Liberty for first place in the OCC-Cardinal at 5-2.
