Westerville North High School senior Joey Wilkin accepted an appointment Feb. 22 to compete in track and field for the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Westerville North High School senior Joey Wilkin accepted an appointment Feb. 22 to compete in track and field for the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Wilkin won the OCC-Cardinal Division title last season in the 110-meter hurdles (15.09) and followed with a Division I regional runner-up finish (14.75). He was 16th (15.14) at state.

According to his father, Warriors assistant coach Jon Wilkin, Joey Wilkin finished 13th last year in the USATF Junior Olympic Nationals in Wichita, Kan., in the 110 hurdles and was 16th in the 400 hurdles.

Wilkin also was special mention all-league for the Warriors boys soccer team that reached a district semifinal last fall.
