No members of the three Westerville high school girls tennis teams advanced from Division I sectional tournament play last week.

Central senior Hannah Thorp had the best performance among the local teams, advancing to a quarterfinal in the sectional Oct. 4 at Upper Arlington before losing to UA's Olivia Kompa 6-0, 6-1. Two of Thorp's teammates, Martha Borsukevich and Mackenzie Moushey, went 1-1 in doubles.

No other Westerville players advanced past the second round.

In the Pickerington Central sectional, going 1-1 were North's Callie Nelson and Negina Wright in singles and the Warriors' doubles team of Abby Englehart and Miranda Goddard as well as South's Tara Thompson in singles and the Wildcats' doubles team of Lexi Hunkler and Ama Kwarteng.

The top four finishers in singles and doubles in each sectional advanced to the district tournament, which will be held Friday, Oct. 12, and Saturday, Oct. 13, at Hilliard Davidson. Sectional play, which also was held at Davidson and Reynoldsburg, concluded Oct. 6.

South ended its regular season with a 3-2 win over Delaware on Oct. 2 to finish 3-10 overall. Central played two matches last week, losing 5-0 to Gahanna on Oct. 1 and 5-0 to Hartley on Oct. 2, to finish 7-9. North finished 3-6.
