Favorito leaves Westerville South for URI

Tom Favorito has resigned as coach of the Westerville South High School boys lacrosse team to become the men’s lacrosse coach at the University of Rhode Island.

The Rams, a club team, compete in Division I of the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association.

“It was a very tough decision for me,” Favorito said. “I grew up on the East Coast in New Jersey. I went to college around Philadelphia (at Neumann University) and I have coached in Pennsylvania as well. I have made a lot of great friends and coached at a lot of great programs in Ohio. The best one has been Westerville South. From the board of directors to the parents and the players, it has been a great experience.”

In two seasons at South, Favorito compiled a 17-21 overall record. Last season, the Wildcats were 5-14 overall and 1-5 in the OCC-Central Division.
