The three Westerville high school boys tennis teams will compete Saturday, April 27, in the 16th annual Bob Raica Memorial Tournament. It will be held at all three schools.
Along with Central, North and South, Groveport, Lancaster, Newark, Lyndhurst Brush and Rocky River also will compete.
Preliminary rounds in first and second singles will be held at South, third singles will be played at North and first and second doubles will be played at Central.
The finals will be held at South.
Last year, Central scored 29 points to finish second in the eight-team event behind Reynoldsburg (31).
The tournament honors the memory of Raica, a longtime sports enthusiast who helped get the tennis courts across the street from South built.
South won its first two matches in the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association state team tournament, defeating Columbus West 5-0 on April 5 and Pickerington Central 5-0 on April 15.
The Wildcats will play Dublin Coffman in a quarterfinal on a date to be determined.
"The team is coming on as we get match experience," said coach John Fill, whose team was 8-2 overall and 1-1 in the OCC-Cardinal Division before playing Hilliard Darby on April 23. "They're starting to get some confidence."
