Felicia Davenport of the Westerville South High School girls golf team joined what otherwise was an all-Dublin Coffman awards party by earning first-team all-OCC-Capital Division honors.

The junior is hoping to celebrate another accomplishment when she and her teammates compete in a Division I sectional tournament Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Oakhaven.

Last year, Davenport shot an 85 in the Mentel Memorial sectional to advance individually to district, where she carded an 81 to finish seven strokes behind the second of two individual state qualifiers.

The Wildcats are seeded 22nd of 32 teams in the district. Among the other nine teams who will be competing at the site are top-seeded Dublin Jerome, fifth-seeded Worthington Kilbourne and seventh-seeded Thomas Worthington.

The top three teams and top three individuals not on a qualifying team at each sectional advance to district Oct. 8 at The Links at Groveport.

Davenport had a 79.25-stroke average in the four-round OCC-Capital tournament that concluded Sept. 10 at Westchester to finish fifth behind Coffman's Lexie Long (73.75), Kylie Raines (74.5), Kamerine Taylor (74.5) and Charley Benefield (77.25). The top five made first-team all-league.

Senior Kaitlin Carlisle (105.25) had South's next-best average, followed by sophomore Kieley Stroupe (107.25).

The Wildcats went 11-21 in the OCC-Capital to finish sixth of nine teams, behind champion Coffman (32-0).

Warhawks aimingfor district berth

After finishing fifth in the Mentel Memorial sectional a year ago, Central is looking to take the next step.

The Warhawks are seeded eighth in the district and are the fourth-highest seed at the same sectional site this fall, behind second-seeded Coffman, fourth-seeded Watterson and sixth-seeded Marysville.

Last season, junior Ana Borish shot an 89 at sectional to advance individually to district, where she carded an 88.

Central tied Hilliard Bradley for fourth in the OCC-Capital at 18-14, with Borish, who averaged 84, and sophomore Ellyn Briggs, who averaged 87.75, both making honorable mention all-league.

Seniors Emma O'Brien (93.75) and Alexandria Hansen (101.75) also competed in all four rounds of the league tournament.

Warriors set forsectional tourney

North is seeded 31st in the district and will join Central in the 11-team Mentel Memorial sectional.

The Warriors placed eighth in the OCC-Capital at 2-28, posting team scores in the final two rounds but not the first two.

Freshman Lizzy Nelson averaged 102.33 over the final three rounds of the league tournament, including carding a 96 in the final round.

Sophomore Phoebe Alicardi was the only player for North who competed in all four rounds.
